A Nice Alternative to Anime Series
I was first introduced to anime by a close friend of mine a few years back. After watching a few episodes (InuYasha) my obsession began. I would spend most of my money and time watching anime series on DVD. I couldn’t find them in my locate stores so I had to purchase most of them off the internet. Then one day while I was in a bookstore I saw a large section of graphic novels. Curious, I went over, and there they were. In all their glorious-newness (it’s a word, if not, it should be) my favorite anime series as manga.
My friend had mention to me in the early stages of my anime obsession that most of these anime series were manga as well. I had dismissed what he had said. I mean, I preferred to watch an animated series instead of having to read about it. Boy, was I seriously mistaken.
Reading a manga gave me a whole knew insight into my favorite series and characters. Many times the stories and characters and their behaviors where different but that only increased my obsession with manga.
It was a great feeling because if I started an anime series I would immediately go out and purchase the manga, if I could and vice versa. I still do it to this day. Thanks in part to being a team member at AnimeJackpot (a reviewer). I can read and watch as many DVD’s and manga as I want (my obsession continues).
So, just because you finish a whole animated series with all its’ many arcs go out and get yourself the manga to read. Read it and take note of the similarities and differences between the two.
Don’t limit yourself to just anime or just manga. Immerse yourself in both worlds and enjoy the ride.
Here’s to your obsession,
T.A.G.
