15 Ways to Act Like an Espada

So you want to be an Espada but you don’t care to simply model yourself on a predecessor, eh? Do you really believe you have what it takes to walk among the ranks of Lord Aizen’s army of the eternal living dead? Only his finest, most dedicated warriors are able to aspire to such a magnificent rank of manifest ungodliness.

The combatants in his immortal war machine fear nothing and dedicate their very existence to the power that comes from the holder of the Hogyoku. If you truly believe that you may be your very own Espada, then adhere to these steps as though they were orders issued forth from the ethereal mouth of Sosuke Aizen himself.

1) Greatly value your own life. While this may not seem like something that the undead soldiers of Bleach would say, they are made of a somewhat manufactured existence; they would not be pleased with ending it.

2) Try out a unique makeup pattern. While always worn extremely light and sporadic, each of the Espada shown in Bleach has his or her own makeup pattern.

3) Work on your running ability. All Arrancar are gifted with the Sonido ability to move at incredibly high speeds. As the Espada are the most elite of the Arrancar, they have even that much greater of a talent for speed.

4) Develop a personal philosophy and maintain it. Whether its Yammy’s quick thinking, Grimmjow’s honor code, Luppi’s excessive caution, or Ulquiorra’s nihlism, each of the Espada has his or her own manner of looking at life.

5) As well as a philosophy, hold some ideal that is important to you in high regard. The Espada are in the service of Lord Aizen, and march as the elite forces of his army.

6) Develop a white costume for yourself that is unique in some way. While the white garments worn by the Espada are a uniform, each of the costumes is designed separately.

7) Develop some phrases in Spanish to describe your actions. The very name Espada is a Spanish word, and their various attacks and releases are also in this language.

8) While your developing these aspects of your character, think up what kind of mask to wear. As with even the lesser Arrancar, the Espada wear a partial hollow mask instead of the full mask that obscures the visage of regular Hollows.

9) Watch the Bleach anime and read the manga series as much as possible. The more you are able to view the Espada in action, the more you will be able to act like them.

10) Make sure to stick together with your group of friends. There is no better way to conquer a convention then as a detachment of Espada and their adjunct warriors, the Fraccion.

11) Never be afraid to display your emotions. The Espada are known for their dramatic tendencies.

12) Give yourself a ranking number. Since the actual ranking system used by the Espada in the anime is full, you may want to develop an explanation for your own number.

13) Try out a wig or head covering in addition to your partial mask. As with most anime characters, each Espada seen thus far in the Bleach anime has had some unique or unnatural hairstyle.

14) Wear a pair of white gloves. This can go a long way in adding to the ghostly appearance that only the Espada can hope to ascertain.

15) Make sure to never stop adding to your collection of Bleach character goods. Each new addition will help to remind you on how to behave in your new form as a member of Sosuke Aizen’s army.
