Kisuke Urahara is the quiet, relaxed man who runs the Urahara Store, and aids Shinigami in training, strategy, and technology. His complex past stretches well before the normal story arc of Bleach. Urahara was once (about 100 years ago) Captain of the 12th Division, and started the Shinigami Research Institute. Before this, he headed the Detention Unit in Covert Ops. Exiled for a crime he did not commit, he lives in the Human world and aids Soul Society in unconventional ways. Urahara’s laid back attitude and measured, polite speech make him at once light hearted and mysterious.

1. Keep your past a secret, and let everyone, including your adversaries, judge you on their own. Use your own mystery as a device to uncover the characteristics of others.
2. Keep a positive attitude and a smile no matter what the situation seems.
3. Wear your signature dark green-grey haori (coat), short and trimmed with large white diamonds near its base.
4. Wear a green and white striped beach hat, or ‘bucket’ hat. Your hat and your hair shade your eyes from observers.
5. Always wear geta (traditional Japanese wooden sandals).
6. Carry a shikomizue (hidden cane sword), called Benihime, whose base is imprinted with a skull surrounded in black and blue flame.
7. Hide your power until it is truly needed. Keep everyone guessing so the situation is always somewhat under your control.

9. Use your experience and scientific knowledge of the spiritual world to analyze conflicts and to devise a perfect plan.
