L, Ryuzaki: Be Like the Mysterious Detective

L, Ryuzaki, Eraldo Coil are just a few of the many names that the world’s greatest detective use in the pursuit of his own personal brand of justice. He is a man who has spent his entire career behind the mask of a single letter, with his face hidden from all of society. The world is a cold, logical puzzle to him. It is in many ways a game for his amusement. The entire human race could be divided into black and white crowds in his mind, with one group awaiting reward and the other punishment.

An intellectual genius of his own sort who doles out judgment based only on his own interest plays off of many of the darker whims of mankind. How does one even begin to become like this legendary investigator? For those among you who are ready to take on this incredible challenge, there are the following fifteen steps to walk the path that L walks.

1) Do not allow your emotions to get the better of you. L is a logical man and allows his mind to only be guided by the principles of rationale and sound reasoning.

2) Dress simply. Ryuzaki is never seen outside of a simple pair of blue jeans and a long sleeved shirt.

3) Never stop learning and thinking. Ryuzaki’s status as a brilliant detective comes from the fact that he is so well informed.

4) Watch the Death Note anime. The anime series outlines the content of L’s most high profile case, the Kira investigation, and really allows you to get into the mind of this incredible detective.

5) Appreciate sugary foods. Ryuzaki constantly eats desserts, and has gone so far as to claim that they are a form of brain food.

6) Sit while holding your knees. L is well known, among the few whom have seen him,

7) Read the Death Note manga. L would agree that the written word reveals more about an individual than any other form.

8) Conceal your identity when using a computer. L always took special safety procedures to make him appears as nothing more than a single letter on a computer screen.

9) When grasping an object, allow it to precariously dangle from your fingers. Ryuzaki always had a peculiar manner in which to hold objects, ostensibly to avoid leaving fingerprint evidence.

10) Remain focus. Ryuzaki always focused on a point and never gave up. For instance, to him Light Yagami was always Kira.

11) Surround yourself with as much Death Note items as possible. Posters, figures, wall scrolls, apparel, and other commodities will be a constant reminder of the ever-watching eyes of justice.

12) Do not vary your tone. L often speaks in a calm, monotone voice regardless of the intensity of the situation.

13) Develop pseudonyms. As is even mentioned in this document, L never refers to himself with the same name for too long. Instead, he is always varying his moniker to confuse possible suspects.

14) Do not over concern yourself with your appearance. In addition to dressing simplistically, L does not seem to care very much about how he looks in any other aspect. His mind is on far more important things.

15) Demonstrate a lethargic personality. L is not energetic nor is he rowdy in any fashion. He is always calm to a degree that may be considered lazy.
