The Nendoroid Dead Master brings a bit of gothic cuteness from the Black Rock Shooter franchise. While she may have been a fearful warrior before, now you recreate any scene in a new, super deformed style. Instead of going for ultra realism, this line tries to bring the humor back into anime figure collecting.
Like the Black Rock Shooter Nendoroid figure, Dead Master comes complete with a chibi version of her weapon. Death Scythe was, of course, a giant monstrosity in the anime. However, here, that weapon is scaled down to match her new style. Perhaps she doesn’t look nearly as frightening like this, but remember that looks can lie!
As Nendo means plasticine or clay in Japanese, one might assume that the actual construction of the figures isn’t done very well at all. However, this is a complete mistake. The workmanship is actually quite good for a figure of this class and price. The Dead Master Nendoroid even includes additional heads, one of which shows a cute style bump that must have been received courtesy of her rival, Black Rock Shooter! This is on top of the fact that her horns and wings have received a similar, cute treatment to guarantee that she holds a special, albeit dark place in your heart. Or, perhaps, deliciously deny your will in her evil fashion. The choice is yours to make.
Of course, Death Scythe would never be complete without some symbol marking her connection to the underworld. Her display comes with a pair of Nendoroid sized skulls that match her somewhat gothic lolita themed persona. The figure, made from durable ABS and PVC materials, is posable and, of course, not to any particular scale at all. She also comes with a stand to ensure her place of honor on your desk or shelf.
For those that already have the Black Gold Saw Nendoroid, this can be the perfect addition to their collection. Likewise, there are many collectors who are happy gathering Nendoroid figures for the sake of gathering as many of these fun and funky statues as they can. Like the Black Gold Saw figure, this figure makes a great beginner’s piece. Of course, anyone who enjoys the insanity of the Black Rock Shooter franchise will enjoy her, and she is in no way inferior. The Nendoroid Dead Master is clearly a superior, if not hilarious, piece of work that can serve you for many years to come.
