Claymore Scene 24: Critical Point Part II

in Anime Series, Claymore

Clare Transformed

Isley says that he figures that Rigaldo is dead, and as we come back from the intro, we see the body of the Silver Eyed Lion King chopped up like meat on the ground. The butchering job that Clare did was exceptional, and even Deneve is in shock. All of the Claymores start to celebrate, as much as their otherwise stoic and logical personas allow them to.

However, they all of a sudden know that something is wrong, and Yoki starts to flow everywhere outside. This is not good, and it certainly looks like Clare is going to Awaken fully. Isley, a stoic himself, expresses surprise at the situation since he is now sure that Rigaldo is defeated. Priscilla looks like she is going to cry. Something about the situation is troubling her greatly.

She is inconsolable, and runs off from Isley. Isley sighs and consigns himself to the situation. Clare now has the hands of animals, and is further slipping down the path of Awakening. Probably due to her incredible strength of will, the process is much slower for her than with some of the other Claymores that we have seen Awaken. She is an incredible warrior, and she appears to be doing all that she can to stave it off.

She struggles to speak, and warns the others not to come near her for fear of killing them. She continues to struggle through, and asks Helen to behead her. She wants to die while she still has some humanity left.

Helen, however, refuses. She won’t do it because she’s not sure Clare has fully Awakened.

Priscilla, having ridden off on her own, surveys the carnage left in the wake of the fight. She sees a myriad of dead bodies, and almost appears to be moved. She is drawn back to horrifying memories from her past, and her mind’s eye calls back to her similar carnage. She is forced to watch as she sees her as a Claymore, and the memory once more of Teresa and rambles that it’s all because of Teresa (looks like her memory is back)

Drawn back to Clare, she is absolutely glowing with power as she continues to fight back the point of total awakening. She once more asks Helen to kill her. Internally, she apologizes to Raki for not being able to keep her promise. She wanted to see him one more time more than anyone in the world.

Clare once again begs for her life to be taken, which Helen says that she would hold against Clare for the rest of her life. Despite her state, Clare is able to detect the presence of a new Awakened One, and she is shocked by it to say the least. This new beast is the One Horned Monster, Priscilla.

This renews the rage in Clare, for she blames Priscilla for the death of Teresa. The other Claymores are taken aback by this action, and Helen commands Clare to stay. Nevertheless, she leaves.

Back on a plateau, Galatea and Rubel are conversing. He gives orders to her to conduct reconnaissance on the situation, but says that the mission is strictly limited to a recon operation only. Anything else won’t be allowed, even though Galatea knows that Clare is awakening.

Isley praises Priscilla for the return of her memories, and releases his horse to the wild. He has a collection of strong Awakened Ones around him, however he opts not to rush in the battle. He’s having too much fun watching the events play out as they have and decides to continue watching from the sidelines.

The Claymores are resting; Cynthia and Tabitha have been left to care for those who had been injured. Helen and Miria discuss the possibility of going after Clare despite the condition she is in.

Deneve has recovered, and apologizes to the lifeless body of Undine. She is taking her sword, and becomes the next Claymore to wield 2 swords.

Outside, Raki grasps for his own sword, but can’t find it in his heart to pick it up. Helen tells him not to follow them again. Raki sits against a wall in a slump.  Meanwhile, the hunt for the partially awakened Clare continues. It is here that Galatea is discovered.

Miria, Deneve and Helen  Claymprepare to fight through Galatea to get to Clare. Galatea isn’t there to fight she tells them that she can sense Clare is near (she is the only one who can give an accurate assessment Yoki aura) and point them in the right direction.

Galatea also reveals that that the Awakened Priscilla is the same one who killed Teresa so long ago. Back in town, Raki is still crying, and he finds himself unable to move. He laments that all he could do is talk, and he is ashamed of his fear. Jean tells him he hasn’t too much time if he wants to help Clare. Jean is badly injured but is determined to help Clare however she can. Raki finally finds his courage, and decides to trek off to find Clare with Jean.

Miria’s party is far ahead of him though, and is getting closer to the standoff between Clare and Priscilla. They are staring at each other in what looks to be an active volcano, and Isley is eagerly looking on as though he were the spectator at a sporting event.

As the episode closes, Clare says that she will never forgive Priscilla!
