Episode 7 – Attack Cornelia
In a flashback to the time shortly after Lelouch’s mother was assassinated, Lelouch requests an audience with his father, Charles zi Britannia, in front of the Britannian court. He confronts his father about his mother’s death, but Charles refuses to listen. Lelouch renounces his claim to the throne, and Charles shocks him by stating that Lelouch was dead to him the moment he was born. He never cared about Lelouch, even though he fed and clothed him. Therefore, Lelouch’s renunciation of his title means nothing to him.
Lloyd explains the Lancelot to Cornelia, and Euphemia thinks to herself about her sister’s methods. Suzaku does his school homework while doing his military duties, and Cecile demonstrates her complete and total inability to cook by filling rice balls with blueberry jam. Cecile also reminds Suzaku of the importance of having good friends, which for Suzaku, means Lelouch.
At Ashford Academy, while they are building a little cat house for Arthur, Shirley asks Kallen what was up with the time she saw Kallen and Lelouch in a seemingly intimate position a few episodes back. Kallen insists that it was nothing, but she is unable to find the right words to convince Shirley. Elsewhere, Nina divides… something. That might be important later on. In order to lure out Zero, Cornelia, Darlton, and Guilford set up a situation exactly like the Shinjuku ghetto incident with the Saitama ghetto. She uses the existence of terrorists in the ghetto as a pretext for this plan, and she has everything announced on the news, which is handled by Diethard. Lelouch comes in to his room while C.C. marks off another credit towards getting a free pizza. Boy, does she love her pizza. Lelouch states that he will use this opportunity to follow up on the information Clovis gave him and ask Cornelia what she knows about his mother’s death. C.C. asks him what is more important to him: destroying Britannia, or finding out the truth about his mother’s murder. He says that they are equally important. C.C. refuses to allow him to fall into Cornelia’s trap and points a gun at him, insisting that he fulfill his part of their contract. Lelouch calls her bluff and points a gun at his own head, insisting that he was dead up until now, and that Geass has given his life meaning. C.C. then relents and allows him to leave.
At Ashford, Kallen leaves, and Suzaku walks in on a very unhappy Shirley. In Saitama, the Britannian soldiers begin slaughtering innocent civilians. Jeremiah, Villetta, and Kewell have been reduced to simple Knightmare Frame pilots, and Jeremiah wishes that Cornelia would send them out. Kewell accosts him and reminds him of “orange,” and Villetta wonders if Lelouch and Zero are related.
Using his Geass power, Lelouch gets control of a Knightmare Frame.
In the same fashion as with the Shinjuku ghetto, Lelouch contacts the local terrorists and begins giving them orders. They win small victory after small victory, culminating in the destruction of the bridge leading to the ghetto, and Cornelia pulls her troops back. Lelouch rides his Knightmare Frame along with the retreating forces for the chance to get at Cornelia just as with Clovis. Meanwhile, C.C. chats with a mysterious, unseen, and unheard individual. That is a major point right there that will be important to explaining C.C. as a character later on. Back at Ashford, Shirley talks about how she met Lelouch and got to know him, and Suzaku deduces that Shirley loves him. Poor Shirley is unable to admit that, though. Milly listens in on their conversation from just outside the room.
At Saitama, Cornelia sends Guilford out to try and find Zero, and both she and Lelouch state that they will win. Then, Suzaku calls Lelouch to sort out the Kallen issue, but Shirley, embarrassed, hangs up the phone. That is yet another instance of either Shirley or Lelouch hanging up on the other. Shirley and Suzaku fall over in a somewhat compromising position, and Arthur bites Suzaku right on the hand. Meanwhile, Lelouch has some of the terrorists reveal themselves to trick Cornelia. Lelouch and Cornelia try to outmaneuver each other, and the terrorists lose their stomach for fighting. They try to surrender, but Cornelia has them shot. Eventually, Lelouch has no more troops. Cornelia then orders all the pilots around her command post to get out of their Knightmare Frames.
Lelouch Sweats
Lelouch sweats as he realizes that he will be discovered, and he tries to stall as long as he can to figure out what to do. But he is saved when Zero shows up and leads the Britannian troops away. Lelouch escapes in the confusion. He meets up with the false Zero, who reveals herself to be C.C., wearing Lelouch’s outfit. She tells him that she cannot have him dying on her, and Lelouch resolves to create an army that he can count on, one that would put him on equal footing with the Britannians. That army, he implies, will be the people of Japan.
