What the :reallypissed:
I wanted to take a moment to discuss the bumpiness taking place in the Anime world. First up anime magazines. On May 19, 2009 Viz Media announced that Shojo Beat Magazine was ending its’ publication. The last issue will be June 16, 2009 which will be their July 2009 issue. A great sadness was felt across the community when the announcement was finalized but some fans saw a positive lite. One member of the Anime News Network forum stated the following “With the success of titles under the name like Full Moon and Vampire Knight, there’s no doubt that it [Shojo Beat Manga] will continue . Not good news for fans who followed the anthology, but hey it can mean good news like extra money for new licenses etc.”
Back in March 2009 the magazine Anime Insider (who I had once subscribe to) had ended it’s 8 year publication as well.
So that’s 2 magazines thus far and back in 2008 Newtype USA and PiQ magazines also ended their reign of publications.
It’s sad, it’s frustrating, it’s life! (sorry, I know I’m suppose to help you escape the realities of life but reality is really trying hard to invade our world of anime. Is there anything we can do to stop the carnage?)
Before I go back to my wonderful world of anime I have one more anime tidbit to share and it deals with Jun Planning. There are so many different news versions concerning Jun Planning, Japan and Jun Planning USA. On May 12, 2009 it was announced that the Jun Planning in Japan filed for bankruptcy and then it was reported that the Jun Planning in the USA would be closing. Then news surfaced that the USA branch was staying open and other news that they were closing then on May 19, 2009 a statement was released that the Jun Planning in USA is still open. So what can we take away from all the back in forth? I don’t know. Just don’t expect a happy outcome.
Okay, back to my anime happy place! :-P
