Have You Seen the Live Action Movie of the Death Note?

Ah, ha! Guess who went and saw the live action movie of the Death Note on the big screen? That’s right, I did! The storyline was well constructed. It obviously followed the Death Note manga but it does stray away from the original path a bit but it really doesn’t hurt the overall storyline at all.

It was a nice change in how the characters met and interacted with one another (and Light is in college when he gets the Death Note). Most in important to note, is that the essence of the Death Note remained the same. We still had our favorite characters that we have grown so much to love or hate (just depends on who’s your fav). Ryuk was there. They did an excellent job and reconstructing him for the live action movie. Great job!

The movie lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes and surprisingly it started right on time. The last 20-30 minutes went into how the director took a weekly manga and turned it into a live action movie. I think all cast & crew did a great job making the transition from manga to movie screen live action.

Now despite it being a great movie, I really didn’t get a chance to enjoy it as much as I wanted. I took my kid sister and a few of her friends to see it and that totally killed it for me. Due to them and their enable to stay on schedule we arrived at the theater about 5 minutes until the show started and the only seats that were available were on the very front row. That is not way to enjoy Death Note or any movie for that matter (my neck and eyes are still sore).

So as a word of advice, either get there early to get that best seats or don’t invite your kid sister and her friends to tag along (I vote for the later part). Also, be sure to order your tickets online if you can. When we arrived the show had already sold out. Luckily, for me I had purchased my tickets way in advance.

If you haven’t seen Death Note on the big screen and it is playing near or in your city go check it out. It will play one last time on May 21, 2008 at 7:30pm.

Oh yea, this is the first part of the live action movie and I am looking forward to seeing the second part to hit the big screen as well.

T.A.G. Out!
