At the crossroad by Kotomine Church, Emiya, Rin and Saber met Illyasviel von Einzbern (giggling girl) and a gigantic monster. She claims she is there to kill them all and she means it, too. She sends her monster Berserker after Saber. Saber runs around dodging his attacks and Rin injects a few magic spells but nothing can stop this huge creature. Ultimately, Berserker is able to land a powerful attack to Saber and she is badly injured (she hadn’t completely heal from her first injury and now this).

Emiya can’t stand to see Saber in as much pain as she is so he decides to go out between her and Berserker. Oh, our unlucky, Emiya gets hit (no that’s not right). He gets hammered by Berserker’s weapon and down Emiya goes (once again), dead. Illya doesn’t understand why a master would risk his life for his servant and leaves. She does however warn Rin that the next time they meet she will kill her. (During this battle there are glimpse of someone watching this all play out. Is it Kotomine or someone else? Hmm, I wonder).

The next morning Emiya is alive and well (he is a little confused as to what happened last night). He is surprised to see Rin inside his house having tea. She informs him that his body started to regenerate on its own (no help from her at all. Well, she did have to carry Emiya home). Rin tells Emiya once again about masters, servants, and how they (Rin and Emiya) are enemies and leaves.

Emiya finds Saber and they both agreed to focus on what they do best. She will fight (he won’t interfere like he did last night) and he will focus on becoming a better master.
