Fate Stay Night Disc 2 War of the Magi: Episode 8
Shinji explains to Emiya that he too is forced to participate in the Holy Grail Wars. And the only reason he has the barrier up is to protect himself from Rin. Shinji invites Emiya back to his home. At Shinji’s house, Shinji explains about the Matou family line of Magi and how their powers are no longer activate but this responsibility has passed to him since he is the eldest, male son. Since he has no magic circuit he can not be detected by other Magi. This causes Emiya to worry about a statement Rin had made to him earlier about her sensing another Magus on campus. If it isn’t Shinji she was detecting then it means there is a fourth magus at school.
Shinji finally gets to the point of why he invited Emiya to his home. He wants to team with Emiya to defeat Rin. Emiya passes on this offer and decides to leave. In a gesture of good faith Shinji informs Emiya that a witch resides at Ryudou Temple (Issei’s home) and she has been collecting large amounts of souls. He won’t interfere. He’ll just sit back and see how things play out (he claims to be a lover not a fighter).
While Emiya is walking home he sees Ryudou Temple on the mountain and runs into Issei. He asks Issei if he has noticed anything strange lately at the temple. Issei informs Emiya that he hasn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary of the 50 or so monks living there except for a woman that recently starting living there. According to his father the woman is having her wedding ceremony there and asked to stay there until then.
Emiya heads home and finds Saber and Rin waiting for him. He informs both of them about his conversation with Shinji and about the woman living at Ryudou Temple. Saber wants to attack this witch but Emiya and Rin both want to wait. They feel it may be a trap and they really don’t have any knowledge about the woman or her servant. So that topic concludes and Rin takes it upon herself to move in with both Emiya and Saber.
Its dinner time and Rin has graciously decided to fix dinner as a thank you to Emiya for allowing her to stay. Just as Rin is starting to prepare dinner Sakura arrives. Rin smugly informs Sakura that she no longer has to take care of Emiya. She’s here now and there is no need for her. Sakura doesn’t accept this (way to go Sakura, you fight for Emiya) and heads straight for the kitchen to prepare dinner as she always has.
Taiga arrives soon after and is (as usual) outrage at the idea of an unrelated girl and boy living under the same roof. She can’t and won’t allow it that is until Rin explains that her house is being repaired from the top down and when she told Emiya he insisted that she stay with him. Taiga kind of buys this story.
After dinner Taiga and Sakura leave. Saber tries once again to get Emiya to attack the witch on the mountain. He adamantly refuses. This upset Saber. She is ready to fight. She is a servant after all. She has rested for several days and is ready to battle servants. She can’t understand Emiya’s refusal to fight. To her, he is being a coward and naive.
Once everyone had fallen asleep Saber sneaks out to fight the servant at Ryudou temple on her own.
