Code Geass’ Zero vs. Death Note’s Kira

Last week I finished watching disc 1 of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Part 1

It reminds me of Death Note (a bit). Lelouch Lamperouge doesn’t like the injustice occurring all around him (with Britannia and the Japanese people aka Elevens). He wants things to change and he firmly believes he is the person to bring justice back (or at least to bring an end to war). He has this incredible ability to control people by activating a special mind controlling power located in his left eye.

He plans to use this power to create a world different then the present (that’s what I’ve gathered so far from episodes 1-5, for the moment)

Light Yagami Comparison

Light Yagami is also tired of the injustice in the world. When he acquires a powerful yet deadly notebook he decides to use it to create a better world (where he will be the new God). His initial intentions seem reasonable. He plans to use the death note to kill all those who are corrupt, evil, and murderous, etc  but when he starts to use the death note to kill any and everyone who gets in his way (including hurting those closest to him all in the name of Justice!) his intentions don’t seem so reasonable after all.

So far the characters share similar characteristics. They both have an incredible power which they can either use for good or for evil. I know how things turn out for Light Yagami aka Kira. I’m really interested in watching how Lelouch aka Zero will be effect by his left eye’s abilities.
