Ikki Tousen The Legendary Fighter Disc 1: Episode 1
So Ikki Tousen starts off with the opening credits scene with shots of ordinary girls around town. It’s basically portraying these girls as ordinary schoolgirls who like to eat ice cream, and shop. Things most high school girls enjoy doing, right? But in the back of my mind I know these aren’t just your ordinary high school students. These are girls who can seriously kick your a** if they wanted to. And I was all set to see what they were made of.
So after the opening credits BOOM, fights! A couple of guys from rival high schools are battling one another. As if that’s what they normally do. And guess what, IT IS what they normally do! Apparently, in this region of Kanto there are 7 high schools that battle one another to become the strongest to conquer the region. These sorts of fights have been going on for centuries (about 1800 years) because these powerful warrior souls dwell within these high school students and I believe it has something to do with the 3 kingdoms of China (I’m still a little unclear on that point but you don’t have to truly grasp the history to enjoy the first episode). To be a fighter you have one of these sacred colored beads. I don’t know, yet, if the color of the beads has any relation to their fighting level or abilities (hopefully that will be revealed later in the series).

Youshu Private School
Youshu Academy
Seito Private School
Ryoushu High School.
The anime begins to pick up when we are introduced to Sonsaku Hakufu. She arrives at her new school wearing, what looks to be a “nightie” but it’s probably more like a short, dress. One strange thing about her is upon her arrival to school she immediately starts kicking all these guys butt. Hakufu is taking all these guys down with few kicks and punches. That is until she fights Gakushu. He’s this huge student you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. He stands tall before her and demands that she kicks him. Not a person to run away from a fight, Hakufu takes her long leg and WHACK! manages to lay one of her strongest kicks to his side. Gakushu in return basically takes Hakufu and throws her across campus and SMACK! she hits a wall and is out like a light but don’t worry remember she did manage to kick him in his side which, at first, appeared as if it had no effect on him at all but it is later revealed that her kick had a huge impact on his internal organs and he is brought crashing to his huge knees (Go, Hakufu!)
It has been mention several times during episode 1 that the powerful warrior from the West, Sho Haou resides within Sonsaku Hakufu (that’s one reason why Gakushu wanted to fight Hakufu). I can’t wait for episode 2 to find out how powerful Sonsaku Hakufu really is!

[...] Sonsaku Hakufu- main character, she’s very cute, a little “stupid,” and has the soul of Sho Haou within her. She is an amateur fighter but she is very powerful and learns quickly. [...]
