Living the Look: Decorating Your Room With Anime Gear

If you have just recently gotten into anime, you might be a little surprised by how much merchandise there is out there. Anime seems to produce merchandise as soon as a new series hits the air and as a result there are a bunch of cool stuff that are fun to buy and to own. You already have space for your DVDs and your manga, but what about things like wall scrolls, figurines or other accessories? Decorating your room with anime can be a great way to liven it up a little bit and you can bet that no matter what series you are into that there is some great merchandise out there for you to pick up.

First, consider what types of items appeal to you the most.  For instance, are you someone who loves figures? The figures and models that you can get that are related to different anime series can be among the most detailed and precise that you have ever seen and they can often seem like small works of art. When you want to display them, don’t just let them clutter up your desk or your bookshelf. Instead, look into shallow shelves that will display them well.

When you are interested in decorating your room with anime merchandise, don’t forget the fun of anime wall scrolls. Whereas posters tend to be the rule in America, Japanese wall décor tends to range towards wall scrolls, which are images printed on fabric and then stretched between two plastic rods. This can make for a wonderfully professional decoration, and it is quite easy to put up. The backs of doors are a good place for wall scrolls but if you are feeling extravagant, you will soon find that you can cover your walls with these high-quality scrolls.

If you would love something to hug, consider purchasing a few plushies. These small stuffed dolls can be amazingly faithful renditions of your favorite characters and since they have often been minimized, they are amazingly cute as well. Too many plushies can give a room a cluttered appearance, so think about stringing them up on your wall or even from a single long cord. They often have loops for this very purpose.

When you are headed off to a dorm room or an apartment, it can be hard to decide how you are going to present your collection. Some people choose to just bring a few pieces that are meaningful to them, while others bring more. Be respectful of other people’s space, but bring along the parts of your collection that bring you the most joy. Anime is becoming a mainstream phenomenon, and you never know when your collection might let you make a friend!
