The Fabulous Foods in Anime
One of my favorite things about watching anime (and I have many things I like about anime) is the food. I love food and I love to watch food on TV. It’s gotten to the point that the food in anime series looks so delicious that I forget about what’s going on and focus solely on the food.
Take Saiyuki, for example, I couldn’t just sit and watch my favorite 4 travelers on their journey. I have to have some type of food in front of me while I’m watching. In almost every scene Goku would complain about
being hungry and that in turn would make me hungry. When they arrived at a restaurant our outdoor event they would order just loads and loads of food which was understandable since they traveled for long periods of time without many eating places along the way. The food would look so yummy like the meat bun and noodles. Hmmm! I just gotta have it!
I know food can not taste good without a great cook. In Fate/Stay Night we have Sakura who prepares these elaborate meals for Emiya (they seem elaborate to the types of meals I enjoy). Their table is filled from corner to corner with food she has prepared with her own hands. The meals are steaming hot and ready for them to chow into.
Oh, and there is the recently released anime Wallflowers. In it Sunako Nakhara, despite her appearance and behavior is an excellent cook as well. She also prepares these mouth watering meals for the beautiful 4 she lives with.
Man, if I could just get the receipt or the exact name of the food prepared I think I would be as full as bull (that is if I had someone to prepare the meals for me). There is so much more to look forward to when I watch an anime. Not only are there the interesting characters, storyline, etc but now there is also the food (if there is any) just beckoning me to have a bite.
Sushi, Miso Soup, Rice or whatever just set a plate out for me. I’m there.
