The World of Collecting Anime Figures

For anyone who is truly a fan of anime and manga anime figures are a must for your collection. There are a number of reasons why this is so but it’s mostly due to the fact that it gives life and vitality to your favorite characters and takes them off the two dimensional screen or pages of a book and presents them to you, the fan, as solid 360 degree beings. One you can hold and look at when ever you want.

Anime figures have value perhaps even more value since they are often collected and traded similar to trading cards only in a three dimensional format. Some figures are incredible popular and can be found anywhere under mass production others are done only a few at a time like the 2007 Convention Exclusive Ichigo Figure which had a limited number of pieces available for fans.

There are other figures that are done by well known artists such as Shunya Yamashita. These figures obviously go for more than ones created by lesser known artists. Character figures also come in a variety of styles like the chibi style. This style involves a small child like rendition of the larger or adult character. These can actually be highly collectible. Anime figures come usually in 1/8th or 1/6th scale or they come as action figures which are typically larger sizes. They are usually highly detailed and are put out by manufactures such as the Good Smile Company, Max Factory, and Medicom. These figures are works of art and as such one of the reasons why they are so desirable and cost a bit of money but if you are a true fan its money well spent.

Some popular anime shows, which have a variety of character figures, are the Death Note and Bleach. These are two highly popular series and they both have anime figures such as the Misa Amane Moeart 1/6 scale figure, which is quite popular and the Bleach 7″ Action Figures Series 3 of Chad Sado and Orihime Inoue. Both are good representations of the market.

Anime figures are a great way to expand into the world of the characters and bring the black and white pages, in the case of manga, to life. They can also bring an added element of completion to a collectors table. There’s so much more to anime and manga than DVD’s and books. It’s the accessories and the character figures that make anime and manga collecting exciting and fun because it goes beyond just simply watching and reading the TV or book, it’s making these characters truly come to life.
