I was talking to our Bleach expert about Ichigo, the Espada and Tite Kubo and the progression of the series. He then asked me if I had ever seen the Bleach musicals? I was shocked. :O I had no idea they had actual musicals of Bleach.
So, I headed over to YouTube and wouldn’t you know it, there they were, the Bleach musicals. And despite the fact that I had no idea what they were saying and singing about I found it quite entertaining. There was Ichigo, Hitsugaya, Urahara, and even Gin singing, dancing, and jumping around on stage. I imagine it took some serious choreography to coordinate those dance routines with the actors and actresses wielding zanpakutōs.
I also found the costumes amazing. There was one actor playing Hitsugaya. He totally looked liked the leader of squad 10. His hair was incredible – I wonder if he dyed it that color or was it a wig?
If you’re into cosplay you will definitely be inspired after watching these musicals.
If you are a Bleach fan, you must watch at least a snippet of the musicals if only to prove you are the ultimate Bleach fan. And if you’re looking for something entertaining to watch that will make you laugh out loud then these musicals are a must see.
There have been issues with taking an anime/manga and transforming it into a live action version (especially transforming it for an American audience ex. Dragonball) but giving the choice between watching a live action version of Bleach (if they ever decide to create an Americanized version) and watching the Bleach Musicals . . I’d have to choose the musicals. They already feel more authentic then any Americanized live action movie to date and that’s saying much – I mean there’s sing for crying out loud in musicals – actual singing and dancing.
See for yourself and let me know what you think.
